Hostel Tropico 20 Degrees
Clean and simple, exactly what you expect from a hostel. Different dorm types to choose from, great social spaces, a good sized kitchen and super clean bathrooms. The highlight of this place is the location. Steps away from the ferry pier and the ocean is right across the road.
Newly opened and very cozy. Amenities include a mini kitchen, comfortable common spaces and a rooftop terrace. Small dorm rooms allow for more privacy, though the hostel also offers a few private rooms as well. Great location, walking distance to town center and the ferry pier.
Coral Princess Golf and Dive Resort
Staff Pick – This simple but very well curated hotel is an excellent choice. I love the location, the on-site ocean access and the pool area. Nothing too fancy, just done well. The cleanliness of the entirety of the place is on point. Great staff. Guests of the hotel are given discounts on the golf course green fees plus they have a great dive shop on-premises!
Update February 2021: The Golf course has closed indefinitely as of January 31st, 2021 due to Covid. Hopefully, it will reopen someday in the future.
Hacienda San Miguel Hotel and Suites
Staff Pick – a charming, traditional Mexican hacienda! This place makes me feel like I’m staying with the Mexican abuela (grandma) I never had. Gorgeous gardens, great food, perfectly relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking for something different and spectacular, this is the spot.
