Tulum Town (often called Tulum Pueblo, or just Tulum) is a beautiful beach town near the famous Mayan Ruins of Tulum. The area has excellent hotel choices, either in downtown Tulum or along the beach at every price point. If you’re planning to travel to this gorgeous place, here are our top picks for some of the best hotels in Tulum.

Where to Sleep

The Top Neighborhoods

The town center or “Centro” has lodging options for all budgets and almost all of them have air conditioning. Tulum Pueblo holds dozens of authentic restaurants, exciting night clubs and bars, and often street festivals. On the edges of Centro are a few jungle areas that have mostly smaller, more rustic lodging. You can choose from cozy guesthouses or even stay in a hut!

The Zona Hotelera and Esmerelda K beach areas are about 10-20 minutes south of town (by car) right on the ocean. The Zona Hotelera has mostly upscale accommodations, many with private beachfronts and beautiful swimming pools. The Zona Hotelera itself is roughly divided into three different areas. The North, located up near the ruins, is the quiet, romantic area. The chic Middle has the beach clubs, restaurants and most of the nightlife. And the South and “Esmerelda K ” areas are very family-friendly and boast wide sandy beaches.

When planning an international vacation, Travel Insurance is a must in our opinion. Since your health insurance likely doesn’t cover you while outside of the country, travel insurance makes sure if you accidentally break a bone or get food poisoning, your medical needs are covered. Travel insurance also typically covers you for trip cancellation, lost or stolen luggage (it happens), Covid issues, flight delays, missed connections and more. We think it’s a no brainer and should be factored into any international trip budget. You can easily compare the top-rated travel insurance plans here.
