1. Relax On Beautiful Beaches
While Yucatán destinations like Playa del Carmen and Cancun may have the Baja Peninsula beat with their serene white-sand beaches, the golden sands in Los Cabos are nothing short of spectacular. Medano Beach is one of the most popular and lively beaches in Cabo. It’s the perfect place to swim or enjoy water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. Medano Beach offers a vibrant social atmosphere thanks to its calm waters and beachfront lined with restaurants and bars. Mango Deck is one of the premier party spots on Medano Beach. This Spring Break mecca boasts flowing tequila shots and contests.
Land’s End (pictured) separates Lover’s Beach and Divorce Beach. Lover’s Beach, also known as Playa Del Amor, is a popular beach on the calm, warm waters of the Sea of Cortez, while Divorce Beach lies on the turbulent and unswimmable waters of the Pacific.
Towering rocks bookend the beautiful sheltered cove of Santa Maria Beach. Its crystal clear waters make it a favorite for swimming, diving, and snorkeling for locals and travelers alike. The shallow waters of the cove are a protected marine sanctuary, which makes it the perfect place to peer under the surface and take in hundreds of eclectic species of vibrant tropical fish. Local Tip: Visit in the early morning for optimal snorkeling visibility in the calm, clear water of Santa Maria Beach.
Local Tip: If you’re a beginner and want to learn to surf, head to Cerritos Beach, just 37 miles (60 km) northwest of Cabo, for easier wave breaks, plenty of surf schools, and a chill vibe.

With so many tours that explore this dazzling and dramatic formation, you can choose from a small boat to an elegant sailboat to get up close to Land’s End.
You can enjoy remarkable views of Land’s End on a sunset cruise, but to get up-close-and-personal with iconic landmarks like El Arco, Neptune’s Finger, Pelican Rock, The Window to the Pacific, and gorgeous Lover’s and Divorce Beaches, take a water taxi (known locally as a panga), shared ride or check it out with a kayak tour.

3. Go Whale Watching
If whale watching is at the top of your list, we recommend visiting Cabo San Lucas between December and April. During this time, you’ll often be able to spot whales while snorkeling, diving, or even from the balcony of your resort.
That’s right, an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 whales move from feeding grounds in the Arctic to the warmer waters of Cabo each year. Humpbacks and gray whales are most commonly seen during this time, but you may be lucky enough to spot orcas, blue whales, or sperm whales in the waters here.
During whale-watching season, make sure to take a whale watching tour with knowledgeable guides who will take you to some of the best spots. Some tours even include hydrophones, so you can also listen to their hauntingly beautiful songs in addition to witnessing these stunning behemoths.

4. Explore Cabo Pulmo National Park
Around 2 hours from downtown Cabo San Lucas, you’ll discover Cabo Pulmo National Park. Known as one of the best spots in the region for an underwater adventure, Cabo Pulmo offers warm and clear waters perfect for exploring. The national park lies in the transition zone between tropical and temperate environments, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific and the water teams with life.
Cabo Pulmo was established nearly 25 years ago when leaders in the community realized their reefs were no longer healthy and their fish populations were diminished. Following their protection, the ecosystem came back to life. Corals grew, fish populations began to thrive, and big fish returned to the reefs.
As colorful fish surround you, you’ll feel like you’re in a different world. In fact, Jacques Cousteau called the stunning Sea of Cortez the “Aquarium of the World” for its unbelievable marine diversity, meaning Cabo is a fantastic destination for exploring beneath the surface.
Local Tip: While visiting Cabo Pulmo, keep an eye out for white-tipped reef sharks and tiger sharks, along with starfish, lobster, sea lions, and turtles.

6. Day Trip To Todos Santos
Mexico’s “Magical Towns” program promotes places of significant cultural or historical significance. Todos Santos is home to a thriving artists’ colony established in the 1980s. It’s the first town on the Baja Peninsula to receive the official “Magical Towns” designation.
To truly experience the magic of Baja Peninsula culture, we recommend visiting Todos Santos. It’s off the beaten path of nearby Cabo San Lucas and an experience that is much more offbeat, rugged, and remote. Less than an hour from Cabo, this is a must-visit for day trippers and destination surfers.
What started as a wealthy sugar mill town in the 19th century, Todos Santos today showcases the perfect blend of surfer chic and the boho spirit. You’ll find stunning hotels like Hotel San Cristobal, a thriving culinary scene, colorful galleries, and eclectic boutique shopping here.
Local Tip: Take a scenic hike on the nearby Sugar Port Trail to an isolated beach!

Every Thursday evening, locals and visitors alike rave about the San Jose del Cabo Art Walk. Gallery owners and local artists open their doors and connect with onlookers over bites and beverages along the town’s charming cobblestone streets.
The San Jose del Cabo art walk is hidden behind the landmark church off Plaza Mijares, the main square. Art genres range from sculptures and paintings to folk art, ceramics, and photography by Mexican and international artists. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the charming village of San Jose del Cabo.
Obregon Street, the main street, is closed to traffic from 5 to 9 p.m., turning the town center into a pedestrian thoroughfare. Where live bands perform everything from traditional mariachi to rock ‘n roll on street corners and from rooftops.
9. Take A Hike
Cabo has a stunningly beautiful natural landscape that is perfect for hiking enthusiasts. You’ll find everything from coastal trails with breathtaking ocean views to rugged desert canyons here.
Head to Fox Canyon (Cañón de la Zorra), located near Santiago, for a scenic hike through a canyon. You’ll be treated to natural rock formations, waterfalls, and swimming holes. The trail is moderate, and you might need a local guide to navigate the area. Check out this Los Cabos: Hiking at the Fox Canyon.
Another great hike is Mt. Solmar Trail. You’ll find the trail near the Cabo San Lucas marina. The hike provides stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the iconic El Arco rock formation. We recommend starting early to avoid the sun and keep in mind the trail is moderately difficult and takes you through rocky terrain. While you don’t need a guide, the trail begins on private property, and the owner, Enrique, is delighted to guide people on the hike.
If you’re looking for spectacular 360-degree views of Cabo and the mountains to the north, then the Cerro de la Z Viewpoint trail is the one for you. This 1.3-mile out-and-back trail is best to hike in the morning due to sun exposure. Make sure to wear sturdy boots because the trail is steep at times.
If you’re searching for an off-the-beaten-path experience in Cabo, check out the Sierra de la Laguna for hiking and off-road adventures. While visiting the area, make sure to take a dip in the hot springs that appear as miniature oases among desert dunes and cacti.
